E.
Measurement and evaluation system
Classroom assessment
Measurement
and evaluation are part of the learning process. Teachers regularly and
continuously measure and evaluate students’ performance in teaching-learning
activities by using diverse assessment techniques, e.g., asking questions,
observing, examining homework, assessing projects, tasks/assignments and
portfolios, and using written tests, etc. Teachers will conduct evaluations
themselves or provide learners with opportunities for self-evaluation,
peer-to-peer evaluation, and evaluation by parents. Learners who do not succeed
in meeting the standards prescribed in the indicators will have remedial
measures for teaching and learning.
School assessment
This
evaluation is conducted by the educational institution in order to appraise the
learners’ achievements on an annual/semester basis, based on assessment of
reading, analytical thinking and writing, desirable characteristics, and learner
development activities. The aim is also to obtain relevant information about education which provided by the educational institution. It has enabled learners
to reach their goals of learning.
Criteria for Learning Assessment
In judging the learning
outcomes of various subject areas, reading, analytical thinking and writing,
desirable characteristics and learner development activities, the teachers must
base their judgement on development of individual learners. Teachers are
required to regularly and continuously collect the learners’ data in all
respects for each semester, as well as provide remedial measures, enabling
learners to develop to their highest potentiality.
F.
Curriculum
1. Co-Curriculum
This curriculum
comes from OBEC to the whole number of schools, so this is common curriculum
that use in the school in Thailand. This curriculum wants schools to give five
subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social, English and Thai Language. Not
only the subjects that arranged by OBEC but also the system of scoring and the
material that use. Those things come from OBEC as the representative of the
government. Every school should follow this rule.
2. School
Curriculum
This curriculum
made by the school. It also common in Thai school because the school should add
some subject that not relate to the OBEC curriculum. The subjects are Japanese
language, Chinese language, English language, Art, Physical and others. The
students should choose what subject that they like. Students should choose some
subjects as their selected subject. So they are free to choose what subject
that they like.
II.
Pedagogical Content
A.
Teaching methods
In this school use student centered approach because
the teacher create some activity that make the students active in the class
such as games, warming
before the lesson began. The warming given by clue so they guess and trying to
speak English. Then when doing task, the teacher ask the students to make group
to do the task. It makes the students work in a team and try to help each other.
B.
Learning materials and
innovation
Book is the common material
that use by the teacher. When teaching, the teacher makes some innovations such as creating power point slide to make students understand about
the material and the teacher also create game to make the students enjoy the material. Before starting
the lesson, the teacher let the students to think about what they will learn
and it makes students think critically. beside that, the teacher also make
students more active in the class.
C.
Sources of learning and technology
Teacher
use technology to develop the learning process such as giving pictures take
from the internet, adding video that take from youtube and they also use
projector to support the learning process. In English department room 311 also
have electric board
that connected to the projector. It helps a lot when correcting students sheet. Then in each class has television to make it easy when delivering the material.
this school use a good technology to support learning process.
D.
Authentic assessment
There are lot of way to get
score in this school. the teacher use task to get daily score, daily test and
middle test to get formative assessment and final test in the last semester to
get summative assessment. When the teacher score the students, they use rubric. In rubric written some criteria to score the students. It shown the ability of
the students.
III.
Teaching Plan
A. Planning for teaching
Before teaching, the teacher plans the material and
work sheet for the students. The material from book and from the teacher
itself. Sometimes, the work sheet
taken from the book but the teacher modify it. So it is easier to
understand by the students. The teacher make the activity as creative as
possible to make students feel happy when learning in the class.
B.
Preparing
lessons and materials
Teacher makes lesson plan
before he teach and the lesson plan used to guide the way he teach. When the
government ask for administration of the teacher it also shown to make sure the
lesson has already taught. The lesson plan signed by the director
that is why it also
legal. And the director know what knowledge that taught to the
students.
C.
Teaching
in class
When teaching, teacher follow
the steps in his lesson plan. All steps are going well and when there is any problem
in the class, the teacher directly revise it. for example when the class is
noisy and the students try to speak Thai, so the teacher will make some
direction like "Ok, listen to me. Do not speak in thai" or the
teacher keep attention students' attention so they still focus in the class.
The class is focus in pronouncing words because teacher wants the students to speak correctly, if they speak correctly it will
decrease miss understanding. Every knowing new words, the teacher will guide the
students to pronounce it together. It trains students to speak correctly in
every word.
D.
Measurement
and Evaluation
It get from the activeness of the students and some of
assessment sheet. It also get from middle test and final test so the score are
come from students ability.
IV.
Teaching Practice
A.
Procedures
of teaching
I plan to teach mathayom 4,
first I gave the students pictures related with topic that will discussed. I
let students to think, and they try to guess so they try to speak English in
the class. After giving picture, I give the right answer then I let them to
guess some picture related with vocabulary that will be discuss. one picture
for one vocabulary so they will focus on what they talk about. After giving one
vocabulary, I guide students to pronounce the word in the right way.
Next after knowing the
vocabulary, I ask them to a question and let them answer my question based on
their experience. then I give them work sheet and the do the work in a group. i
want them to work in a group because they can help each other and it can
increase team work. I let them finishing the work in 15 minutes and then
correcting together.
Last I ask them to take some
data of their friend by asking same question, and writing in passive sentence. Then
after that they have to talk with their pair telling the data.
B.
Time
management and organizing activities
I have three main activity
in my class. First opening then main activity and then closing. for opening I
give them 5 minutes that use to show pictures related the topic. then for main
activity I use 40 minutes, 15 minutes for giving vocabulary, 10 minus doing
work sheet, 12 minus for asking the other students and 3 minutes for doing pai
conversation. In the last I give them reflection 5 minutes.
However when I taught in the
class, I run out of time because the students are coming late so the time is
not enough until reflection. But when I taught in the other class, the activity
runs well, the students are active in the class and the time is enough.
C.
Problem-solving
The big problem in my
class is language, even I teach in English and the department or class is
English too, they commonly speak Thai. It was really hard to make
them not speaking Thai in the class. but I try to keep them speak in English, I
tell them that I cannot understand if they speak Thai so they try to speak
English with me.
The other Problem is students'
focus, some of the students are not focus in the class such as sleep, and
playing their phone. If the students sleep, I wake her up and then I ask her to do the assignment and warn her to not sleep again. For the students
who play their phones, I directly ask them to turn off their games and turn
off their phone. The other problem is lateness of the students, I let them late but its only 10 minutes, If they late more than
10 minus, I keep teach the other students that have already in the class.
D.
Classroom
management
My weaknesses when I teach
is not giving clue in the front of class if there are lots of students ask
to spell the word and not giving correct answer by writing in the front of
class so the students did not know the correct writing. I just ask them to
spell the correct answer not write in the front of the class.
The second one is too fast
in giving instruction so the students did not understand correctly. I directly
give example to make them more understand. When I gave them some work, I check
their understanding so I can know whether or not they understand my instruction.
If they are not understood, I repeat my instruction also the example.
V.
Summary and Suggestion
I should bring good things
that I get from this practicum, such as giving clearly instruction then giving
example so the students will understand about what they have to do. The other is give them
lot of time to speak so they can practice their English without using their mother
language.
